She took notes of all our requests. “Will you check for cottonseed oil? It nearly kills me.” Daddy needed to be sure the coffee was decaf and Janice didn’t want her potatoes cut in squares. Sheesh! We’re a needy bunch, except for my other sister Tamra who never gets sick and tends to go with the flow. Since us girls were enjoying breakfast with daddy for Father’s Day, I decided to take a picture. The sweet waitress was back with the cottonseed oil report. Had I been in her shoes, I would’ve taken more than one long breath in order to express my hot displeasure. Instead she smiled and offered to snap the picture so I could be in it.
Rather than do the least amount possible in order to fulfil her job description, she did all the required plus found extra ways to make our dining experience a joyous occasion.
I wish I would think like that. I wish my mindset were more about others and less about myself. Little things really do mean a lot.
All because one young lady took notice, I didn’t end up with stroke-like symptoms, daddy’s heart didn’t get crazy, Janice had grits instead of loathsome cubed up homefries, Tamra didn’t have to perform CPR and we even got a great Father’s Day picture.
In light of that, I might go to Facebook today and like everything that pops up. Why do I withhold my Likes as though they cost me something? I might go crazy and like all the recipes and pictures of pets and children and nutcases… and maybe even that painting on the side of the redneck truck.
Ha! Got me smiling early in the morning….may you have “likes” all day!

Lynna, you are the best. Thanks for sharing. Really needed to laugh this morning. The painting is quite the traffic stopper. Hope it causes no accidents

Yep! Just a little disconcerting. =)
Glad it made you laugh, even though it’s pretty unspiritual.
