I presented our new baby Marie with her gift. A cute furry hat with little ears, in my thinking it was perfect. Lined with a pretty pink stripe that confirmed her gender, what could be better? Plus the strap allowed it to fasten snuggly under one of her chins to keep the winter wind out of her tiny ears.
Apparently Marie did not agree.
As she wailed, I imagined her thoughts:
“I DON’T WANT TO BE AN EWOK!
I WANT TO BE A PRINCESS!!!”
I think she might be me… or I am her.
The Lord gives me stuff He knows will benefit my life.
But I don’t like it.
So I weep and wail and gnash my teeth.
Sometimes I get to see the benefit of His wisdom. I can’t even tell you the number of houses I drive by and thank the Lord He did not give me what I asked for… as in, we don’t live there. We looked at so many potential homes as contract after contract fell through on the sale of ours.
We lost a big fat deposit on one that we were sure would be the perfect location, right beside my mama and daddy. A short while later, mom died and daddy moved. I’m so thankful we didn’t get that house.
As usual, God was wiser than my prayers.
Whew. Much better!
And I have to say…
You look beautiful Marie!
But if you go out like that your ears will get cold.
Thank you, Always get a blessing reading what God has inspires you to write.
