For a month or so we’ve had this Sunday’s date marked on our calendar. In order to launch three new campuses specifically designed for the un-churched and de-churched, a special offering is planned. For approximately one million bucks, the potential is ours to reach an estimated 3000 more people. That’s a conservative guess based on experience with our current five campuses. Throw in a little “Pastor Math” which is a combination of statistics and faith, and the possibility is much greater. But a million dollars?
For us personally, as a couple who committed our family to the Lord when we were still in matching bell bottoms, we are loving the results of our latest ministry of only eight years. How rare it is to stand on a riverbank and cheer as individuals, whole families, and prodigals like us show by baptism that they’ve committed to live for the One Who died in their place! How refreshing to watch as Life Group members grow in their walk with the Lord. Ours is a bunch of old people in our fifties and sixties! Each week we enjoy great questions, insight, and valuable observations in Scripture. What a blessing!
And worship! Wow! Life can be so hard that the bootstraps we once jerked ourselves up by have long ago been broken. But an hour** in the very arms of God gives strength to continue. How can we NOT share this wonderful life with others!
A million dollars. Divide that by the potential 3000 and that comes out to… let’s get the calculator and make sure we enter the correct number of zeros… that would be about… $333.33 per soul.
“Since you excel in so many ways- in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us- I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.”*
Don’t be afraid. God isn’t a Taker. He’s a Multiplier!
“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’ And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”*
Can you imagine how cool it would’ve been to hand your little sack lunch to Jesus and watch as He turned it into food for thousands?
Well now’s our chance!
Whatever He shows you to do, just do that. Then step back and watch Him multiply it. I cannot wait! How exciting to be a part of something God is blessing!
*Scripture is quoted from 2 Corinthians 8:7 & 9:7, New Living Translation; Both chapters have great insight on giving.
**One hour church services are not guaranteed. If Pastor Torrey Morgan is speaking, bonus minutes are likely. Set timer on oven containing roast appropriately. High Rock Church shall not be liable for burnt Sunday lunch.
God is good….I cannot wait to see what is coming and am excited to be a part of it.
